Pop Up Engagement at Dunbar Community Center

Pop-Up at the Dunbar Community Center

On Wednesday, November 20th, the Kelley’s Landing team hosted a successful pop-up event at the Dunbar Community Center. We had the opportunity to engage with local community members about the future of Kelley’s Landing Park, gathering further input for the park’s master plan.

At the pop-up, we presented a version of the Character Design Survey, which allowed both children and adults to select specific features they would like to see at the park. Attendees were also provided with informational materials about the master plan, including details about the project team, which includes The Fund for Greater Lexington, Lexington Parks and Recreation, Gresham Smith, Explore Kentucky, and CivicLex.

Community members were particularly excited about the proposed play features, including slides, playgrounds, and interactive educational equipment for children. Walking trails were also a favorite among attendees, with one participant sharing that, in their later years, they prefer nature walks and trails.

We are so grateful to the Dunbar Community Center for hosting the event and providing us with an opportunity to connect with the community. It was great hearing participants’ ideas and continuing to shape the vision for Kelley’s Landing Park together!
